We have nearly completed our second week of school, and we are already hard at work. It has been exciting to meet each and everyone of the students in our class. Wellington Christian Academy is fortunate to have such wonderful students.

We been completing a Venn Diagram on the many differences between the story and Disney movie. We are also keeping tracks of individual books we have read using Book Adventures. We have also been enjoying the chapter book The Indian in the Cupboard during read aloud time. Spelling: Short vowel sounds Math: Counting base ten blocks Expanded Notation ( 1000 + 800 + 20 + 7 ) Standard form ( 1,827 ) Word Form (One thousand eight hundred twenty-seven ) Rounding to the tens place ( 1,234 = 1,230 ) Rounding to the hundreds place ( 1,234 = 1,200 ) Rounding to the thousands place ( 1,234 = 1,000) *** Test on Friday September 12th *** Language: We are learning to write complete paragraphs in our daily morning journals. Topics are on Self, Friends, Family, School, Personal Choices / Safety, Problem Solving, and Story Telling. In Shirley, we are studying Antonyms, Synonyms, Complete Sentences, and Work Study Skills. Technology: We are learning how to type paragraphs in Microsoft Word, how to navigate our classroom website and blog, and are learning to use the sight www.Mobymax.com/ks194 Bible: We have studied the Creation story and the Fall of Adam and Eve. Science / Social Studies: We have Studied Map Skills. We are working on being able to locate our address, state, country, continent, and planet. We should also be able to locate our North, South, East, West, and being able to draw simple maps of a room or house. Core Knowledge Homework: Read pages 78 -91 Draw a map of your neighborhood. I am excited to meet your children on September 2nd. My name is Jessie Fishel and I am the new third grade teacher at WCA. This is going to be an exciting school year. A little about myself... this is my 6th year teaching, I have taught special education Kindergarten - 5th grade for four years, and Kindergarten for 1 year. This is my first year teaching "third grade" and my fifth year for teaching third graders.
I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, a endorsements in both English as a Second Language (ESOL) and Adaptive Special Education. I currently in Mulvane with my husband Chase, and our two children Matthew (age 3) and Sarah (age 1). We attend First Baptist Church in Mulvane, KS. |
